Richard Brault graduated with high distinction from the School of Industrial Design, Carleton University, Ottawa Canada. In 1983 he founded Studio Innova with Dianne Croteau and remains an active partner. His design career spans several disciplines and sectors: healthcare, emergency rescue, education, furniture, architecture, community gardens, renewable energy and human powered transportation.
Brault engages in all stages of the design process – strategic planning, research, concept development, computer modeling, prototyping, production and intellectual property. His projects and products have received several patents and awards, his work has been published internationally.
Brault has lectured on the topics of design, ecology and entrepreneurship at the University of Toronto, Politecnico di Milano, the Design Academy (Eindhoven), Carleton University, York University and the Ontario College of Art and Design. Board positions have included: The Association of Chartered Industrial Designers (Ontario), The Humane Village ICSID -97 Congress, The Toronto Renewable Energy Cooperative, The Alex Wilson Community Garden.
